The Princess and the Frog-review

The Princess and the Frog-
We got a group of folks together to go see this film on Sunday. It is only playing at a few theaters here. We thought we were going to the 3:50 show but it turned out that, that one was being shown in Korean so we had to wait until 6. A bonus for me was being able to go to the COEX mall and eat Pizzeria UNO. Anyways, so I cried through most of this film. I am soooooo homesick.I enjoyed the food references and some of the songs in the film but not all of them . I don't get why so many people ripped it apart. I mean of course I have extra reasons to like the film but still. It was cute. Some of the accents were great. I would show the film to my children. I'm happy with the effort put into this film and I take this as a tribute to New Orleans. Def. worth the watch and a good film. Giving it a big star.

The Hurt Locker-review

The Hurt Locker-I will start off by saying that I am a Guy Pearce fan(yet he was like Drew Barrymore in Scream this time around).

The movie left me wondering what all the buzz was about. I've been trying to watch this film since it came out. There is so much praise of it. I even read on CNN how many critics are saying it is the best film of 2009. The acting was good and I do believe Anthony Mackie is growing on me. I have the "maybe I need to watch it again" feeling. I know a few people in the military and they hated the film. I spent my time trying to figure out where the film was going. It was all emotion and little story. I really feel like the film focused on shots(that's what you do for emotion) with a handful of memorable scenes. I felt for the soldier that wanted to go home and I thought the bomb guy was so far gone and logical at the same time. I think they were trying to show the emotions that war creates and what different types of soldiers there are. Yet, I was bored and ready for it to be over. I wasn't there with them feeling their pain because it did feel fake and far from real-life over there. For the cinematography, make-up, and acting I'm gonna give this one a medium star it's really more deserving of a small star b/c I was hardly entertained.

Law Abiding Citizen-review

Law Abiding Citizen-Jamie Foxx stars as a lawyer who gave a criminal a break. This makes the victim of the crime set out to seek revenge. His eyes on everyone involved in the lack of justice he received for the crime committed against his family. So, that explains the title. If you sit back and don't over think the film, this one is a good film along the lines of Taken. If you do think about it too much (like I do) you will find yourself thinking this is too complicated and why does the lawyer become a detective overnight and how is he able to outsmart this former law abiding citizen. Props to F. Gary Gray for doing his thing in the industry. It is a good film and I guarantee you will enjoy how the story plays out Medium star def. worth the watch

The Express-review

Hi! I watched 4 movies this weekend. Are you ready for some reviews?

The Express, is about Ernie Davis the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. I didn't know anything about his life so the impact of finding out about his life was greater for me as I watched the film. I liked it I thought it was well-done. I feel like all the short bio films like these follow the same formula( from childhood to their success). Wanna be tearjerkers but some work and some don't.Wanna be tearjerkers but some work and some don't. This one worked and I was pleased to see some actors that I have been following.
Time to talk about the actors. I didn't like Darrin Henson as Jim Brown just felt like he looked nothing like him and his accent was nothing near the 1950's. Charles Dutton has changed a lot from his Rock days and Mr. Dutton is working on a lot of projects about black history which makes me smile. Omar Miller was good in the film (I'm waiting to see him flex his acting skills). Dennis Quaid, I've always been a fan of his. Chadwick Boseman, I like him( wink wink). Rob Brown(as Ernie Davis) I gotta say I like his performances. He's still got that babyface so I don't know when he will start playing husband and businessman roles.

It is worth the watch. Medium Star

Sidenote: I was a stand-in for the little boy who plays young Ernie D on a different project. Imagine that!
